A Spring Desert Wildflower Walk

As much as I want to be, I’m not really a “morning walk” person. When it comes to writing, I’m at my best as soon as I wake up. I have a really hard time thinking about giving up my precious morning writing hours. So, I wake up and work on whatever deadline is calling for my attention on a particular day until I start getting antsy. This means that by early afternoon, I’m ready for a break. Some days it’s just a walk to the thrift store, but other days I need what I affectionately refer to as a “sanity maintenance hike.”

The best thing about spring in the desert is the wildflowers. Living in the desert, I often have to trick myself into staying hydrated. I’m really bad about drinking plain water (I know), so I’ll brew a big quart jar of mint tea to drink throughout the day or try to travel with flavored, but not sugary beverage with me pretty much wherever I go. I threw the new Lively Carrot Naked Cold Pressed Juice in my bag before my afternoon hike last week. The experts at Naked are launching a new line of cold-pressed juices called Naked Pressed, rolling out at select stores on the West Coast now. Naked has been creating masterfully blended juices and smoothies (I love the Blue Machine!) for more than 30 years.

Naked juice works to source the highest quality ingredients available and uses their juice knowledge to perfect cold-pressed technology. I was surprised when I saw that the Lively Carrot flavor had vanilla and turmeric, but it is a really awesome combo!
I know the names of some of the wildflowers in my area, but definitely not all of them. My usual hiking spot was absolutely covered with these little purple ones. And the cactus were just starting to bloom.

The pink puffy ones below are called fairy dusters and they’re some of my favorites!
