Fig, Goat Cheese, and Black Pepper Milkshake

Fig, Goat Cheese, and Black Pepper Milkshake // Autumn Makes & Does

I’ve been happily, gratefully, joyfully buried under a pile of freelance work over here. We’re still working on settling in too. Unfortunately, our temporary housing situation turned out to be a bit more temporary than we had hoped, so we’re moving to temporary housing situation #2 this weekend. So, moving. Still. The good news is we’ve been looking to buy (!!!), which–god help me–after a few weeks looking at fixer-uppers I do feel like I have enough material to start an entirely new blog about trying to buy a house for literally as little money as possible. REAL TALK.

Fig, Goat cheese, and Black Pepper Milkshake // Autumn Makes & Does

Another thing I’ve been gladly inundated with lately is figs. I made this bonkers fig, goat cheese, and black pepper shake for Serious Eats along with a fig syrup that actually tastes like figs. You didn’t know that was a hard thing did you? It took a bit of tinkering. There’s also a fancy schmancy balsamic fig soda that I think you might like. Please do click on over to Serious Eats and check out the recipes.

Catching up on some thank yous, I was delighted to be included in great company in Food52’s 8 Food Blog Links We Love last Friday. And, this one is quite belated, but Elizabeth from Brooklyn Supper gave me a super sweet shout-out in this great interview over at Paper/Plates.

Fahncy milkshake! Love it. Best of luck with finding a house — I remember those days all too well, but the good news is once you find the right one, you’ll know it. Hang in there! 🙂

This looks and sounds so delicious. Three of my all-time favorite foods in milkshake form! Also: we’re looking at houses to buy right now and yikes! Those fixer-uppers are starting to look mighty fine.

Any time you feel like complaining about housey stuff, hit me up. I’m always ready to bitch about the joys of homeowning. And we can drink figgy milkshakes while we commiserate!

Great shake! Congrats on the links and I hope you find something permanent soon. In the meantime, make yourself a shake!
